Case Against

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

Subject

Health

Case Reference Number

202202020

Outcome

Not Upheld

Ms B complained about the care and treatment provided to her son, Mr C, by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (ā€œthe Health Boardā€) during and following his admission to Glan Clwyd Hospital in July 2021. The investigation considered whether the Health Board indirectly discriminated against Mr C by not considering his ethnic background, whether Mr C’s discharge from hospital and the arrangements made for his discharge, including communication with Ms B as his carer, were reasonable, whether the follow up by the Home Treatment Team /Care Co-ordinator was appropriate and the Health Board’s failure to carry out an Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment.

The Ombudsman found that the care and treatment provided to Mr C during and following his admission to Hospital in July 2021 was clinically appropriate and Ms B’s complaint was not upheld.
